SITE RATING

As a site, "Into the Unknown" is regarded as being rated PG-13. Unlike other supernatural/fantasy RPs, ITU is regarded as a more lighthearted, whimsical type of site heavily inspired by the Disney/Pixar hit film ONWARD. And as such, we appreciate members using darker themes and content in a tasteful and understanding manner. We also ask that you put a TRIGGER WARNING on any thread pertaining to triggering topics.
GENERAL RULES
1. All members of the RP should be 18 years of age or older.
2. Please register your account with your character's first and last name. OOC Accounts are also encouraged, but not required. But in creating one, please make it under your assumed alias in ALL CAPS.
3. We are LGBTQ+, POC, and Disability accepting, welcoming, and encouraging. We welcome anyone and everyone, characters included, under the sun. If you are not OK with this, you are in the wrong place. If there are any discrepancies from members or staff, please contact a staff member so we can handle it accordingly. It should be noted BULLYING OF ANY FORM is not tolerated on "ITU".
4. Members should post three times a month in order to be considered active. If something comes up, feel free to reach out to the staff, as exceptions can always be made, just don't abuse it please.
CHARACTER CREATION
1. Before creating your first character, please consult the lorebook for a general run-down on playable species, character guidelines, as well as a general rundown on societal norms. As we have reinterpreted some species and creatures in our own vision. The list is ever-growing, so if you have any cool suggestions not in the "Beasteary" please, feel free to let us know!
2. All player characters must be at least thirteen years of age. However, we welcome NPC characters of all ages. Please note: we are a one character per account forum, so you will need an account for each of yours.
3. We allow a mixture of Face Claims on "ITU". Humans should have real life face claims at least thirteen years old (no exceptions). But supernatural creatures may use animated/CGI face claims or art. Please bear in mind that if you are using art, you will need the permission of the artist in order to feature it on the site. There will also be overlap and of course, if you are playing a Fae, Were, or Vampire for example human face claims are also allowed. That said, if you don’t want to use a face claim, that is also acceptable! Please just add a small description of appearance to your bio if so.
4. Please do not make flawless characters. Everyone should have their weaknesses and while we play loosely with most mythology, this should not be grounds to make impossible to defeat characters. Mary Sues and Gary Stu's will be fed to my pet dragon.
5. Please, do not begin RPing until your character has been reviewed and approved by a member of staff. We promise we will get with you as soon as we can!
6. Your first three characters are free. After that, you will have to wait one month between each character in order to create them. All of your other characters will need to have been active in the time between as well.
7. Due to their rarity, wizards are currently restricted to our single site canon. That said, passive magic as well as Fae magic are more than welcome depending on what you're looking for. Accepted forms of magic in the world outside of wizard characters are:
Glamour and Suggestion (minor mind control) for the Fae and Elves Third Eye (Medium/Seeing and communicating with Ghosts) and Prophetic Visions (Dependent; Ask an Admin) for Humans and most Overworlders
We will be having a site event later on to find the four wizards of the new generation. So stick around for more information regarding that. But all magical creatures can do some minor forms of magic, for acceptable ones please speak to a member of staff!
8. At this time, we will be handling hybrid characters on a case-by-case basis. As such, please contact a member of staff to discuss the specifics of your character before applying for one.
9. We accept characters of all creeds, sexualities, gender identity, race, and disability. All are pretty much accepted in this world as they are a far more forward-thinking society. So have at whoever you'd like!
IN-CHARACTER RULES
1. "ITU" as a site has no word count. The most we ask from our members is that you always give your partner sometime to work with!
2. There is absolute no R-rated content allowed on "ITU" - with 0 exceptions. Everything should be kept to a PG-13 level. Subjects such as abuse, violence, and the like can of course be covered. Just make sure you're not pushing too far and breeching the Proboards TOS. This means all sexual situations must also be fade-to-black.
3. Quests are treated as site events and will be created periodically for those who wish to partake in the adventuring, swords-and-sorcery side of things! We are always open to quest suggestions, so if you have ideas, by all means, let a staff member know!
4. No God-Modding, Power Playing, or any other form of bad RP Etiquette please.
5. This site is set in the present day and as such, modern technology is of course present. It should be treated as if it were the modern world. That said, due to the fantasy nature of this site, swords, battleaxes, and the like are still commonplace. Being the only truly "out of place" topic in the RP.
6. Keep all in-character fights in-character. There is no reason to take character feuds personally or take it to a personal level, and such behavior will not be tolerated.
7. All battles and quest results will be decided on by all parties prior to taking place! Be sure to allow your characters to take hits, as well as throw good punches. And please, try not to grab the limelight constantly.
8. We are a magical site, so please, by all means, keep things whimsical and magical as can be! We ask for realism when it comes to serious topics you may be handling. But otherwise, the world is your oyster to do the world-building. We're so excited to see what we can create together!
CBOX AND DISCORD RULES
1. NO ADVERTISING. We allow light talk of other websites or mentions. But member-sniping and link posting will not be tolerated. Especially since we have a forum dedicated to both guest and member advertising.
2. Keep the religious and political talk to a minimum. It only ever causes trouble.
3. Our Discord is optional - but a great tool to use to stay up-to-date on news, plotting, and the like! So feel free to stop in.
4. Treat each other with respect at all times - again bullying is NOT tolerated.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY Have fun! And welcome!

Site Plot
WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES IN THE YEAR 2022
But it is not the world you know. Rather, it is a world most only dream of. A world where magical creatures and human beings have lived together for hundreds of years in peace and harmony. Where sword and sorcery may yet still rule the day, or where one might enjoy a mundane, albeit unique life among the citizens of New Haven City. Or perhaps, even, a stranger life among the citizens of the Fae domain.
INTO THE UNKNOWN is both a magical and supernatural take on the slice-of-life RP, and one of fairy tale adventures, romance, and so much more.
But it is not the world you know. Rather, it is a world most only dream of. A world where magical creatures and human beings have lived together for hundreds of years in peace and harmony.
